Enhanced Pulsed-Source Localization with 3 Hydrophones: Uncertainty Estimates

چکیده
The uncertainty behavior of an enhanced three-dimensional (3D) localization scheme for pulsed sources based on relative travel times at a large-aperture three-hydrophone array is studied. extension two-hydrophone approach time differences between direct and surface-reflected arrivals, with significant advantages, but also drawbacks, such as left-right ambiguity, high range/depth uncertainties broadside sources, bearing endfire sources. These drawbacks can be removed by adding third hydrophone. 3D problem separated into two, estimation problem, which only the hydrophone depths are needed, if geometry in horizontal known well. refraction acoustic paths taken account using ray theory. condition existence arrivals relaxed considering upper turning point, allowing longer ranges. A Bayesian framework adopted, uncertainties. Uncertainty estimates obtained through analytic predictions simulations they compared against well two-dimensional that arrivals.

Enhanced Uncertainty Modeling for Robot Localization
A localization system is presented for estimating the position of a mobile robot via ultrasonic sensing and dead reckoning. The algorithm has the well-known predictor-corrector structure of the Extended Kalman Filter and makes use of an environment map in the prediction phase. The proposed method is original in two aspects. First, the uncertainty on the odometric estimate is changed during the ...
متن کاملAcoustic Source Localization Based on the Extended Kalman Filter for an Underwater Vehicle with a Pair of Hydrophones
In this study, we consider a special situation that only a pair of hydrophone on a moving underwater vehicle is available to localize a fixed acoustic source of far distance. The trigonometry can be used in this situation by using two different DOA of different locations. Notice that the distance between the two locations should be measured. Therefore, we assume that the vehicle is sailing stra...
متن کاملCommentary: Consistency of EEG source localization and connectivity estimates
As the EEG inverse problem does not have a unique solution, the sources reconstructed from EEG and their connectivity properties depend on forward and inverse modeling parameters such as the choice of an anatomical template and electrical model, prior assumptions on the sources, and further implementational details. In order to use source connectivity analysis as a reliable research tool, there...
متن کاملRobot-centric Elevation Mapping with Uncertainty Estimates
This paper addresses the local terrain mapping process for an autonomous robot. Building upon an onboard range measurement sensor and an existing robot pose estimation, we formulate a novel elevation mapping method from a robot-centric perspective. This formulation can explicitly handle drift of the robot pose estimation which occurs for many autonomous robots. Our mapping approach fully incorp...
متن کاملGeneralized Aggregate Uncertainty Measure 2 for Uncertainty Evaluation of a Dezert-Smarandache Theory based Localization Problem
In this paper, Generalized Aggregated Uncertainty measure 2 (GAU2), as a newuncertainty measure, is considered to evaluate uncertainty in a localization problem in which cameras’images are used. The theory that is applied to a hierarchical structure for a decision making to combinecameras’ images is Dezert-Smarandache theory. To evaluate decisions, an analysis of uncertainty isexecuted at every...
